Happy 50th Birthday Mum!

 Hi guys,

Well today was my mummies 50th Birthday and I havent really had the opportunity to make alot of stuff lately with planning a wedding and how busy things have been but I made sure I took some time out to make her card. Originally I used this months colour challenge over at Paper Pals and then discovered it had closed, whoops. (FYI Colours were red, vanilla and crumb cake) But I also used this weeks Freshly Made Sketch. I dont know what it is about there sketches but I always find myself modifying them. Im usually a stickler for using challenges exactly how they are. I have flipped it and changed the lines slightly. But I really like it. Heres the sketch....

And heres what I did with it. I have used the crumb cake scalloped tulle ribon through the middle of the card. I love how it looks in real life. It looks better then the photo. It gives a really nice effect to the background. I hope you love the card as much as me.

Thanks for looking,
Dani

Happy 5th Birthday Asha

Hi guys,
Two posts in a week, GO ME!! My beautiful niece is turning 5 (I can't believe she's 5 already) and I wanted to make her a card with some of my new goodies from the catalogue. I used the fun sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches for this week which looks like this....

I then saw that this weeks challenge over at Just Add Ink was "Just Add Kids/Childrens Cards" and I thought bonus, I'll enter my card for both he he he. Here's what I did with the sketch and the super super cute Owl Occasions set from the mini. It's SOOOOO fun to play with.
Sorry about the crappy photo, it doesn't do the card justice, been on night shift so had to take the photo on location at my neices party.

Friday Mash Up #76

 Hi guys,

Well first of all I have to say... BAD Blogger! BAD BAD Blogger lol. I hadn't realised I hadn't posted for so long. Ive had a few family issues of late, everyone including myself has been in hospital and had surgery, its been pretty hectic. Also I have been finding Ive been posting on Facebook more than my blog so if your on facebook and wanna check out other stuff Ive been doing before I get around to uploading it onto my blog please visit me here. Anywho onto the important stuff...
This weeks Friday Mash Up challenge was to do a starburst card or to use the below sketch (which has a starburst he he) or mash them up. I've never done a starburst card so I decided to make one.
Here's what I came up with....
Stamp Set; Mixed Bunch, French Foliage
Ink: Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Baja Breeze, Wild Wasabi, First Edition Speciality Paper, Pink Pirouette DSP

Roarrrring fun with challenges

Hi guys,
I've been having some fun today with some challenges. Today I've taken this weeks Friday Mashup challenge and mixed it up with this weeks Freshly Made Sketch. This weeks Friday Mashup challenge was to use Marina Mist, Basic Black, Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Wild Wasabi (Olympics colours) and mash it up with circles. I used the colours and I used polka dot background so hopefully my (sneaky) interpretation fills the brief hehe. I then flipped the Freshly made sketch on its side. I hope you like my interpretation of the sketch. I usually stay pretty true to sketches but I like how this turned out and the slanting of the images. Here is a visual of the challenges used

And then of course my card. I had to make a card for a 6 year olds birthday party. I really love how fun this card is and my girls asked if they could keep it too lol. So good for boys and girls!

 Stamp Set: Dinoroar
Ink: Black Stazon, Daffodil delight, Wild Wasabi
Cardstock: Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist, Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Watercolour paper
Accessories: Aqua Painter, White thread, Dimensionals, Corner Rounder, Prints DSP

Finding my love of ghosting again

Hi guys,

WOW! I have been quiet. Bad bad blogger!!! Been very busy with getting back to fulltime work. I started a new role at the end of January. Anywho I'm very excited cos I have not one but 2 cards to share with you. Was going to do it over two seperate posts but I need to get them in for a challenge. This week at Friday Mashup the challenge was to use the ghosting technique or use the current sketch of mash up both.

I really love the ghosting technique. Haven't used it in ages. So I jumped at the chance to create something. I originally made this card and after finishing it I went through the cards already submitted and found someone else had submitted a card just like mine. Different colours but similar concept. I'm taking it as good taste, hehehe. Anyway I thought I'd make a second card since I really enjoyed rekindling my ghosting love. Heres the first card I made

Stamp Set: French Foliage, Just Believe
Ink: Pool Party, Versamark, Black Stazon, Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo
Cardstock: Gloss white, Lucky Limeade, Pool Party, Island Indigo, Basic Black
Accessories: Sponges, Satin Black Ribbon, Dimensionals, Butterfly Dye

So the second card... My brother proposed to his girlfriend just before Christmas and they are having an engagement party on Friday so I made this card (using ghosting, not the sketch) for them to say congrats. I used ghosting on the circle as well as the baha background with the medallion. I am really happy with how it turned out. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

Stamp Set: Charming, Medallion, Tiny Tags, Northern Hearts
Ink: Real Red, Pretty in Pink, Baha Breeze, Versamark, StazOn,
Cardstock: Regal Rose, Baha Breeze, Pink Pirouette, Pink Pirouette Prints DSP, Gloss White
Accessories: Sponges, 2 1/2" circle punch, Pink hearts punch, Lace border punch, baha breeze seam binding, tiny tag punch

Hope you enjoyed having a look. Hopefully I'll be able to get back into blogging more regularly.
Have a great day!

a VERY belated Christmas present!!!!

Do you ever start a project with the best intentions and never get it done and sit at it half done on your desk? Or do you start it and then by the time you finish it it's way to late to give it for what it's intended? I really hope someone who reads this is nodding along with me because that's what I have to share with you today. I started to make a gift for my grandma for Christmas (lucky it was only the one just gone haha). She always asks me to make her cards but always at the last minute so I thought I'd make her a card tin filled with 10 cards and envelopes so she always has a card at the last minute. I altered an old hodgepodge tin to fill. Anyway I made cards to go inside it but never got around to altering it so when I saw this weeks Friday Mash Up challenge I thought Yep lets alter the tin... Here's this weeks sketch

And the mashup was to use vintage/shabby chic combined with the sketch. Now the sketch I found a little challenging but I made it work. Vintage however has become one of my new loves and I thought it was perfect for a nana tin. Here's how the tin worked out

Stamp Set: French Foliage, Charming
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, Pretty in Pink, Old Olive, Marina Mist
Ink: Marina Mist, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake
Accessories: Champagne Shimmer Paint, Scallop Circle Punch, 5 Petal flower punch, Pearls, Chantilly Lace, Sponge daubers, Brads, Big Shot, Top Note Die, Alphabet Die

You can't tell on the picture but the top note dye has been painted with Champagne Shimmer Paint. I tried to get a close up but you still couldn't really tell. It looks really lovely and shiny.

Thanks for looking and have a fabulous day

Dani :)

Just Add Ink 105

Hi guys,

I'm so sorry for my quietness. Bad bad blogger. I always feel like i'm apologising on here. Truth be told is I have just landed a perm position at work and have gone to fulltime hours which includes lots more night shift then I used to do so I just haven't had as much time from the little amout of time I usually have. I do have 2 things I have made in the last two days to share with you though. First is a baby shower card for my close friend whose shower I am going to on Sunday. Anyway I saw this colour combo over at Just Add Ink and was in love and decided it was perfect for a unisex baby shower card
Aren't they a great combo of colours? This card I've actually made a similar version of before but never put on my blog so I suppose I CASEd myself. Which is just as well cos my mojo has been on holidays lately. Let me know if you think I found it...

Stamp Set: Baby Bundle
Ink: Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, Certainly Celery
Cardstock: Whipser White, So Saffron, Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, Certainly Celery
Accessories: 1 3/8" punch, Polka Dot embossing folder, Big Shot, Dimesnionals, Alphabet die, White Taffeta Ribbon, Mini Glue Dots, Certainly Celery Brads, Two way glue pen

Mashing Up Valentines

Hi guys,

I just found a new challenge site. I can't believe it took me so long to find it. And if you knew about it, why didn't you share your secret hahaha!!! Anyway its called The Friday Mashup! I really like it cos it mashes two things together in the one challenge. This week the challenge was to use the colours Early Espresso, Blushing Bride and Riding Hood Red and to use Paper Piercing on the one project. I have a fairly simple valentines card to share using these colours and some paper peircing. I got inspiration for this card from a card I saw in a magazine. Added my own spin and looksie looksie, This is what I did...

Will add what I used later as I have to run out the door,
Have a great one,

Dani

Party Penguin

Hi guys,

Ever since I got the owl punch for Christmas from my Secret Santa I have been LOVING experimenting and playing with it. What an awesome Punch. How did I live so long without it? The circles are also such a great size. Really versatile! Anywho heres another card to show you it's versatility. I made the owl into a penguin. How freaking cute is this little guy?? This card was inspired by a card by Teneale Williams a while back. (Couldn't find the exact post sorry) I added my own little things to it though including the little Party flag made from cardstock and a tooth pick.

Stamp Set: Party Hearty (Retired)
Cardstock: Elegant Eggplant, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie Prints DSP
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Elegant Eggplant
Accessories: Owl Punch, Scallop Lace Border Punch, Pumpkin Pie Satin Ribbon, Dimensionals, Two way glue pen, Toothpick

Vintage Florets

Hi guys,

I went to a craft day with some of my Stampin Up friends last week and was looking through a magazine and came across a card I quiet liked so decided to make a card based on it. As I started my mojo just flowed and I came up with something I am pretty damn proud of. Its quite different for me but I like that. I feel I am stretching myself outside my comfort zone. I have also used a new stamp set from the current mini. Its just divine! Anyway have a squizz, let me know what you think...

Stamp Set: Fabulous Florets, Teeny Tiny Sentiments, French Foliage, Extreme Elements
Cardstock: Crumb cake, Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White, Newsprint DSP (retired)
Ink: Wisteria Wonder, Lucky Limeade, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede
Accessories: Victoria Lace, Old Olive Satin Ribbon, Sponge Daubers, Dimensionals, Sticky Strip, Vintage Brads, Pearls

I purposefully frayed the edge of the satin ribbon and I just love the vintage feel it gives. Also love the quirky addition of the lace at the bottom. Anyway much too excited about this card I think!

Thanks for looking, Have a good one

Happy 30th Birthday Liz

Hi guys,

A few days ago a good friend of mine turned 30. She doesn't look a day over 21 though. I've know her since I was 15 or 16 and we lost contact and were fortunate to get back in contact just under 2 yrs ago. I've since done card classes for her mum so it was only appropriate I made her a special card. She absolutley loves dragonflies and when I saw the recent colour combo at Colour Q I had to make her a card combining the two. Here are this weeks colours

Aren't those colours beautiful? The great thing about these colours is they have stirred me away from using crumb cake. I'm a bit obsessed with Crumb Cake atm so it's good to challenge yourself out of your comfort zone. Here's how I combined Liz's love of dragonflies and the colour combo...

Stamp Set: Bugs and Kisses (Retired), Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Ink: Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, Sahara Sand
Cardstock: Marina Mist, Bashful Blue, Night of Navy, Sahara Sand
Accessories: Big Shot, Polka Dot embossing folder, Blender Pen, Two Way glue pen, Dazzling Diamonds, Marina Mist Satin Ribbon, Curly Label Punch

Thanks for looking, I'm off to ice cupcakes for my daughters birthday party today! Have a great day,
Dani

For my beloved friend Steven

On 16th November 2011 a dear friend of mine Steven died at 32 years old. I have been in absolute shock since learning the news of his passing. I met Steven in 2005 when I went travelling overseas for World Youth Day and despite him living interstate we have remained close friends since. Yesterday I was able to travel to QLD for the day to attend his funeral and say goodbye. Heres a photo of me and my friend Steven in 2005 when we met in Germany.
To send my condolenses to his family I made them a card. I always struggle with sympathy cards. Never know what to put on them. Or how to find the right words. I used the latest inkspirations sketch to make a sympathy card. Here is the sketch.

I actually changed the sketch up quiet a bit to suit myself. I am happy with how it turned out though. Very vintagey. My photo wasn't very good as I took it whilst travelling and after the card got a little squashed in my bag. It looked even more impressive IRL
Stamp Set: Thoughts and Prayers, French Foliage
Ink: Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Old Olive, Early Espresso, Lucky Limeade
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Old Olive, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Stampin Write Markers, 2 1/2" circle Punch, Pearls, Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Victoria Lace Ribbon, Dimesionals, Sponges, Daubers
Thanks for looking. Have a lovely Day
Dani
