Polka Dot Wedding

Hi All,

The other weekend I went to a wedding for good friends of ours. It was a small and simple ceremony but was very them. The bride was co ordinating everything in red so I decided when making them a card I would ensure it was in red. I did a little casing (but changed it up a little to suit myself) from the fab Rachel Capps who got the original card from Dawn. Thanks ladies for the ideas! Around the same time I opened my big mouth and was talked into doing a demo of the Faux metal technique at our team stamping day. I decided to incorporate the faux metal technique into the card and demo the technique on the card at the stamping day. And here's what I came up with

Simple but very elegant and could also be given as a valentines card or a simple I love you card. The bride of the wedding absolutly loved the card! Here's a close up of the faux metal medallion I made. I attached it with some silver rings and long nose pliars from my jewellry making days.

Stamp Set: Polka Dot Punches (SAB), In the Spotlight

Cardstock: Whisper White, Real Red

Ink: Real Red, VersaMark

Accessories: White Taffeta Ribbon, Red Gingham Ribbon, Dimensionals, Silver Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Silver rings, Pliars

This week Mel Halon has a challenge on her blog to make a wedding card so I decided to enter this card as part of the challenge. as I did give it as a wedding card. Check out her blog for other simple but fun weekly challenges!

Thanks for looking!

Botanical Elements

Hi all,
This week has been hectic and I know I said I'd be back to upload more things so I am sorry but thank everyone for there patience. Yesterday I saw and worked on Kristina Werner's most recent Colour Challenge.
I substituted Kiwi Kiss for Old Olive as we don't have here in the land of Oz yet. I really liked the colour thoughs it because it showed that even if your using colours from the same family it can be a little bit of a challenge. I made a fairly simple card but i'm really happy with it and like how the colours came out together.
Stamp Set: Botanical Blooms (SAB), All year Cheer II (Retired), Itty Bitty Backgrounds (Soon to retire)
Cardstock: Whisper White, Old Olive, Really Rust, More Mustard
Ink: Old Olive, Really Rust, More Mustard
Accessories: Hodgepodge Hardware, Old Olive Brads, Scallop Edge Punch, Mat Pack
Thanks for looking!
Have a lovely day

Embrace Colour Challenges!

Hi guys,
I'm so sorry for lack of posting the last week and a half. Last week I returned to work at reduced hours and that along with going to a wedding in the hunter valley over the weekend (Which was gorgeous) has left me so physically exhausted. I do have quite a few things to share with you guys it's just a matter of having the energy to put it all on so bare with me.
First thing I do have you was from a week ago. The Inklings Demo group I'm apart of had there monthly challenge night. This one was hosted by the lovely and talented Carol. The first challenge of the night was a colour challenge. Here is the colour challenge....
Admittedly when I first saw the colours I was absolutly crapping myself. 2 of the colours in the challenge are my least favourite colours (Cameo Coral and Groovy Guava) but I felt that I should give the challenge a go to really push myself outside of my comfort zone. I am really happy I did as I am so happy with the result and may even use these colours again! (Yes this baby is really doing strange things to me!) Here's what I came up with...

Stamp Set: Embrace Life, Short & Sweet
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Pretty In Pink, Groovy Guava, Watercolour Paper
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Cameo Coral (Marker), Pretty In Pink (Marker), Timber Brown Stazon (Non SU)
Accessories: Aqua Painter, Mat Pack, Dimensionals
Thanks for looking!

Bundle of Congrats

I saw Kristina's lastest Colour Inspiration challenge this morning and though wow they are super nice and a bit of a challenge but doubted I'd be able to make a card before the deadline due to missing mojo and general pain with my condition. I had a MUCH NEEDED afternoon nap (Thank you Panadene Forte) and woke up with some ideas on what I wanted to do with the colours.
As mentioned in the previous post my partners Brother and his fiance are expecting there second child in August so I will be a (kinda) aunty again! YAY! I haven't been able to see them, due to my health, since finding out the news and have set plans to go visit next week. I've been planning to make them a card to say congrats on there news because they were reluctant to tell anyone at first because they didn't want to steal my thunder especially with everything going on. So I decided to use the inspiration colours to make the card. Here's the colours
Awwww Pwedddddy! And here's the card I made...
Stamp Set: Bundle of Joy, Congrats (SAB Set)
Cardstock: More Mustard, Old Olive, Watercolour Paper, So Saffron Prints DSP
Ink: More Mustard, Taken with Teal, Old Olive (Stampin' Write Markers)
Accessories: Aqua Painter, Hemp Twine, Mini Glue Dots, Random Button I found (Non SU!)
Technique: Watercolouring
I'm rather happy with this card. It's a little different to what I usually do but I like it. I am a more mustard convert I must say, It's a great colour to play with and I'll be using it more often than I do at the moment! The giraffe was a bit fiddly to watercolour so make sure you have lots of time (and patience) if you ever plan to watercolour him.
Happy Stampin'

Another Keesh Challenge

Hi all,
I saw Makeesha's challenge for this week and loved the sketch and had alot of ideas run through my head. Here's the sketch that we needed to base our creation on.

I decided to make a baby card. After recieving more news of friends being pregnant including my partners brother's fiance I thought it was more than fitting that I start gathering a collection of baby cards. I then counted the amount of people I know who are pregnant and got 14! Eeek! There is definatly something in the water I think. I made a girl card as I know definatly one of them is having a girl. Here's the card I made...
Stamp Set: Polka Dot BG, Wild About You, Short & Sweet
Cardstock: Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery
Ink: Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink
Accessories: 1/2" & 3/4" circle punches, scallop edge punch, Pretty in Pink Brads, Dimensionals
I must say I am not 100% sure about this card. It didn't turned out how I had invisioned and it reminded me of a circus for some reason. Please let me know what you think. For this reason I decided to make a second card. I am SO much happier with this card. Here it is...
Stamp Set: Bloomin' with Beauty (From Spring Mini)
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke, Whisper White, Watercolour Paper,
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke (Stamp Pad and Stampin' Write Marker), Mellow Moss, Rose Red (Ink pad and stampin' write marker)
Accessories: Aqua Painter, Choc Chip Ribbon, Mat Pack, Pewter Jumbo Eyelets, Sponges, Sponge Daubers, Scorer
Technique: Faux Tiles, Watercolouring
For this card in the background I used the Faux Tiles Technique. I scored whipser white cardstock on diagonals on both sides to get the checked pattern. I then sponged it in mellow moss and highlighted it in Always Artichoke.
Update on my scan. All went well. Baby is developing well and has normal features for it's age. As for the sex, we didn't find out. Baby had it's legs closed the whole scan which I think is a sign that we aren't supposed to know the sex which is fine by me! Thanks for all your well wishes and thoughts
Happy Stampin'

Blog Awards

Firstly I want to thank the academy, and my parents without whom none of this would be possible, my loving and supportive boyfriend, my fans and blog visitors and lastly and most importantly GOD!
Ok now I have the formalities out of the way I have been awarded 2 blog awards within the last few weeks. The first was the Kreativ Blogger award awarded to me by the lovely Kristy Young, Thanks Kristy.
The rules are to pass this on to 5 other Kreativ Bloggers... (I will do this at the end)
The second award I was given was the Butterfly Award. I was given this award from the talented LeAnne.
The rules to this award are as follows...
1) Post the award(s) logo on your blog
2) Add the link to the person who nominated you
3) Nominate 10 other blogs & post their links
4) Let those people know that they have received the award
As this one wanted me to nominate 10 and the previous one 5 I decided to just combine the awards together and nominate 5 for both awards. So my criteria was to find 5 blogs that are both Kreativ and cool. So without further ado here are the people I will pass these onto (In no particular order)...
1. Kellie Winnell - I've only just started following her blog but she has some gorgeous work and great and different ideas
2. Ryemilan aka Sam - This lady is seriously talented and way out my league. She has such a creative mind and makes fab projects!
3. Alana Galagher - One of my fellow Inklings. She always comes up with gorgeous projects and cool ideas.
4. Lin Mei Yap - Another one of my fellow Inklings. Lin Mei is the cutest most hilarious blogger I know. She makes really cool stuff with a different flair to them.
5. Tegan Swift - This is both an encouragement award and an award to someone who I feel for her mere age of 17 is really clever. Keep up the great work Tegan!
Thanks again for the ladies for the awards and to the other ladies enjoy the awards!
I have my 18-20 week scan today. I am really excited. We can find out the sex of our little smudgey (As I have affectionally nicknamed the bub for the moment) but I don't want to, I like the element of surprise. My partner really wants to find out for a variety of reasons and I am slightly tempted but I would rather wait and see. Either way just getting to have a look at the babies growth and progress is an exciting thing! Wish me luck!
Cheers, Dani (+1)

Starry Rainbow Frog

One of my really good friends Kaylah (Hi Klah) celebrated her birthday in January. Kaylah lives in Melbourne and we met when we were 16 via ICQ (Now that is back in the day) when she random chatted me after being sick of guys trying to pick her up online and needless to say we have become really good friends since visiting each other and staying for a few days when we can.
For her birthday I wanted to make her a card that really incorporated the things she loves. She loves frogs and always has so I new instantly to use the "unfroggettable" stamp set. She also loves stars and all things rainbow so I decided to try and put all 3 things together. At first I thought it would be impossible but I really love what I came up with and am quiet surprised at how easy it was.
Stamp Set: Unfroggettable, Nice and Narrow (for the stars - Retired)
Ink: Black Stazon, Old Olive, Orchid Opulence
Card Stock: Water colour paper, Yoyo Yellow, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Orchid Opulence, Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive
Accessories, Scallop Edge, Dimensionals, Tempting Turquoise Grosgrain Ribbon
I really hope you loved the card Kaylah! Miss you heaps!
Thanks for looking! I'll be back soon as I have won some blog awards ooooh!
Take Care,
Dani
