Plum Daisy's

Hi All,

A few weeks ago it was my sister in laws birthday and I wanted to make her a card that she'd really like. She loves purple so I decided to use Perfect Plum and Pale Plum to make her card. My partner absolutely loves when I make cards using brayering so he wanted me to do a sunset type card using brayering. I thought using purple was a little out of my comfort zone but really like how the colours looked with a brayered background.

To get the background I stamped the Upsy Daisy Stamp Set in Black Stazon on Whisper White CS. I punched a circle out of a post it note on the sticky part and stuck it where I wanted my moon to go. Then brayered pale plum first until I got the colouring I wanted. I the layered over with Perfect Plum and blended the colour in to get the colours fading into each other. I then removed the punched circle and done! EASY! I was going to touch it up with some dazzling diamonds but my sister in law has a 2 year old and I just invisioned her playing with the card and removing all the glitter and spreading it all over the house! The glitter would really give it a pop though.

Stamp Set: Upsy Daisy, Sanded BG, Best Yet
Ink: Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, Black Stazon, VersaMark
Cardstock: Whisper White, Pale Plum, Perfect Plum, Basic Black
Accessories: 1 3/8" and 1 1/2" circle punch, Brayer, Post it notes, Dimensionals, Stamp a majig

Oh and before I go I have a photo to share of my beautiful daughter Riley. She is 6 months old today (doesn't time fly) and I feel totally blessed to have her in my life. Here she is in the bath cracking a huge smile! Doesn't she just melt your heart???

Thanks for looking!

Makeesha Colour Challenge No 16

Hi All,

WOW! November was hit and miss! I created, I swear. It was just one of those months, In between the computer crashing, hospital visits and general life busy-ness I just haven't had time. I really need to stop making excuses. To make up for it I have a really cute card made for Makeesha's Colour Challenge! How super funky are these colours??

I thought these colours would be rocking as a boys card so I pulled out a set I've hardly used, Bugs and Kisses, and had a play! I really like what I came up with and really want to play some more with it now except we have an ant infestation at the moment and they have taken a liking to my craft desk and well I end up getting eaten by evil bugs everytime I create so I feel my choice in sets is quiet fitting given our ant visitors.

You can't quiet tell but in the background I have stamped little ladybettles on the red cardstock in versamark! Look hard and you will see them. Every photo I took it was very hard to see them.

Stamp Set: Bugs and Kisses, Sanded BG
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Taken With Teal, VersaMark
Cardstock: Taken with Teal, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White
Accessories: Pumpkin Pie Marker, Stamp a ma jig, 1 3/8" & 1 1/2" circle punch, scallop edge punch, Sponge daubers

Thanks for stopping by!

Polished Baby

No it's not some strange form of torture for infants it in fact describes 2 cards I made recently. Last month at training our fearless leader Jayne showed us various techniques and ideas using reinkers. One that we learnt was the 'Polished Stone' technique. The way it works is you put rubbing alcohol onto a make up wipe then place a few dots of, your choice in a few colours, reinkers onto the wipe then dab the ink over glossy white cardstock until desired effect or amount of colour has been reached!

I made 2 cards using the same layout using different 'polished stone' colour combinations! Both cards are for babies. The Pink one I made for my fellow demonstrator friend Kylie Swain who gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Emily, last week. The other is for just in case as I have a few expectant friends at the moment.

I really love how this technique gives a card something extra. It was so simple to do and lots of fun as long as you don't mind getting your fingers inky!

Stamp Set: Nursery Necessities, Polka Dot BG
Cardstock: Pink Pirouette, Basic Grey, Regal Rose, Whisper White, Gloss White
Ink: Pink Pirouette, Regal Rose, Basic Grey
Accessories: Regal Rose and Pink Pirouette Reinkers, Mat Pack, Regal Rose Grosgrain, Dimensionals, Scallop Edge Punch, Rubbing Alcohol, Make Up Wipes

Stamp Set: Nursery Necessities, Polka Dot BG
Cardstock: Sage Shadow, Taken with Teal, Basic Grey, Whisper White, White Gloss
Ink: Sage Shadow, Baha Breeze, Taken with Teal, Basic Grey
Accesories: Sage Shadow Baha Breeze and Taken with Teal reinker, Dimensionals, Scallop Edge Punch, Rubbing Alcohol, Make Up Wipes, Baha Breeze Striped Ribbon

Elegant Stars

My youngest brother celebrated his birthday earlier this month! I really wanted to make a card that combined things that he liked while also keeping it masculine which is a challenge in itself. Stamp Sets: Spotlight on Christmas, Occasional Greetings
Ink: Elegant Eggplant
Cardstock: Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White, Basic Black
Accessories: Small and Large Star Punches, Dimensionals, Black Brads

A call for scraps

Hi Guys,

Are you a hoarder like me and keep scraps of cardstock "just in case" and then never use them? If so I have the perfect solution. The Inklings Demonstrator group I am part of has been doing alot of stuff for Westmead children's hospital including visits and making cards with sick kids. They are always on the look out for punched out shapes of cardstock, paper, DSP, Whatever, for the kids to play and create with. So next time you look at a scrap and can't decide what to do with it, punch out a few shapes, put them in a pile and when you get a decent amount send them to me (Or Jayne Mercer who is organising this) and we will make sure they get to the Children's Hospital. They don't have to be SU! product so any punches or cardstock you have will help!
If you want anymore information including my address so you can mail them to me please email me at danielle.fender@gmail.com

Thanks for your assistance guys!

I have a few friends including Kylie Swain who are pregnant with baby girls and are due in the next week or so, so I thought it was appropriate to start stocking up on some cards! Beautiful Thanks

Gees, Haven't I been slack! I keep meaning to update my blog but have been so slack. I sincerely apologise to any of my loyal followers, If you still follow that is! Life has just been so hectic in between a million august birthdays including my own and my partners and having a little bubba I just feel like I haven't stopped! I have heaps of stuff to share just no time to share it if that makes sense!

Here is a card I made on the team weekend away back in August! It was a sketch challenge and I really wanted to do something using sets I don't own. So I had a play around with "A Beautiful Thing." As happy as I am with the outcome this card took me 4 attempts to get the stamping right! So for future reference don't use this stamp set when you only have had 4-5hrs sleep! The Flowers have Dazzling Diamonds on each little dot but you can't tell in the photo! They look stunning though!

Stamp Set: Three Little Words, A Beautiful Thing
Cardstock: Whisper White, Sage Shadow, Almost Amethyst
Ink: Almost Amethyst (Marker and ink pad), Lovely Lilac, Sage Shadow Marker
Accessories: Choc Chip Wide Grosgrain, Ice Rhinestone Brads, Eyelet Border Punch, Word Window Punch, Dazzling Diamonds, Two Way Glue Pen, Large brads (From spring Mini)

Thanks for looking and I will try to be a little more prompt with my updating! Also Fiona Harrison email me your details (danielle.fender@gmail.com) so I can send out the card I had on offer for blog candy to you!

Cheers!

Inkspirations Inspiration Challenge #10

Hi All,

I'm so excited I got the time to participate in another Makeesha Challenge so soon. This weeks challenge is an inspiration challenge. Below is the image to be inspired by

I went with the colours and clean lines as my inspiration. I used Basic Grey, Basic Black, Taken with Teal, So Saffron, Whisper White and some hemp twine to tie in the small hint of a brown colour I could see. I just purchased 'Party Hearty' and really wanted to use it so I went with a masculine birthday card using the colours. Here is what I came up with...

Stamp Set: Party Hearty
Ink: Basic Black, Taken with Teal Marker, So Saffron Marker
Cardstock: Taken with Teal, So Saffron, Basic Grey, Basic Black, Whisper White, Patterns II DSP pack
Accessories: White Taffeta Ribbon, Hemp Twine, 1'3/8 1'1/2 inch square punches, 3/4' circle punch, Scallop Punch, Black Brads

This weekend I'm off on a Team Weekend Away to Vision Valley with The Inklings Demonstrator group. I'm so excited to just have a weekend of stamping it's just what I need. Can't wait to show you heaps of creations and stories when I get back!

Inkspirations Sketch Challenge 10

Hi All,

It feels like ageeeeeeeeeeees since I have participated in one of Makeesha's Challenges and I really enjoyed it! This weeks challenge was a Sketch Challenge to make a card based on the following Sketch.

Karl's mum has been really sick lately and hasn't been able to see Riley since she was born because of it and it has really been getting her down so I decided to make her a Get Well Soon card to cheer her up. I changed the sketch up a little and used a rectangle instead of the circle cos I really wanted to use the flower image from Friends 24-7. Here's the final product I really hope that she likes the card and it cheers her up because I had alot of fun making it.

Stamp Sets: Friends 24-7, Thoughts & Prayers
Cardstock: Not Quiet Navy, Watercolour Paper, Bella Bleu DSP
Ink: Not Quiet Navy, Kiwi Kiss, Old Olive, Basic Grey, Black Stazon
Accessories: Aqua Painter, Very Vanilla grosgrain Ribbon, Mini Glue Dots, Pretties Kit (Cream half back pearls), Scallop Egde Punch

I made this card ages ago for a swap card and with the craziness of the last few months I didn't get to send any of them or photograph them. It's using a really cute and simple set "Pocket Silhouettes." I think this set is so versatile and has lots of different uses. This card is very simple but just shows how elegant the set can be. I also am in love with this colour combo how pretty is it???

Stamp Set: Pocket Silhouettes
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Naturals Ivory, Sage Shadow
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Sage Shadow, Baja Breeze
Accessories: Mat Pack, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Choc Chip Grosgrain Ribbon, Glue Dots

Baby Shower Invites

Hi All,

Firstly a big sorry for such a delay between posts. I have seriously been swamped inbetween moving, medical appts, and just everyday stuff, It's been hectic. It also hasn't helped that I don't have net access at my new home yet. We have moved in though and almost everything is done. HOORAY!

I made my invitations for my baby shower ages ago but have only just finally taken pictures of them. They are Onsie Cards which I have made plenty of times before but I made them into invitations. These are super cute and super easy but I wouldn't encourage anyone to make 50 of them lol! I made 2 different designs as I am unsure of Smudgey's gender. How cute are they??
Stamp Set: Short and Sweet, Retired Stamp Set that my baby brain is not allowing me to remember the name of for the greeting
Ink: Bashful Blue, Pretty In Pink
Cardstock: Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Pretty In Pink

Moving House

Hi All,

Well today at 3:30pm I officially became a home owner. As exciting as this is it will mean I will be a little quiet over the next week or two as I we do a few little reno's (Gyprocking, Tiling, painting, etc.) and then move in. It will be difficult due to my health but I am hoping to get through it as smoothly as possible. I am hoping to be able to load up before and after shots of some of the rooms for you guys to see also.

Myself and Karl are both very excited that we have our own stable home that we can bring up little Smudgey (bub) in and looking forward to creating lots of memories in our place.

I thank you all for your patience and support within this time and look forward to being able to get back on board with stamping up and other projects (in my new craft room) very very soon!

Take Care

Happy 50th Birthday

Hi All,

Despite everything being packed in a box to go to my new place I got to complete a card yesterday. My mum was going to a 50th Birthday party and wanted me to make her a card. I thought it would work well with Makeesha's latest sketch. I was a little late to enter the competition but had lots of fun with it anyway.
I noticed after making it that it wasn't stuck very well as my mum was rushing me to get it out the door so please do not look to closely as it is a little dodgy.
For the numbers and the circle I used On Board Lots of Letters Chipboard. I coloured the numbers with my inkpad and then sanded them back with my sanding block. I covered the circle in So Saffron Prints dsp, Sanded it back and then attached vellum to the back to give a slightly
see through backing. Here's a close up
Stamp Set: Occasional Greetings
Cardstock: So Saffron, Purely Pomegrante, Certainly Celery, Bali Breeze DSP, So Saffron Prints DSP
Ink: Purely Pomegrante, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White
Accessories: Vellum, On Board Lots of Letters Chip Board, Scallop Egde Punch, Certainly Celery Brads, Sanding Block, Tombow adhesive, Certainly Celery Ribbon

Happy 100th post to me!

Hi All,
WOW! This is my 100th post! That's really exciting as I started this blog not knowing if I would be able to post regularly or ever have any regular viewers. I am so excited that 100 posts and I'm still going strong. I thank everyone who regularly visits and enjoy my creations! You guys inspire me to keep sharing what I love with you all.
Today I have a card to share that has been floating around in my head for a good week or so. I had planned exactly what I wanted to create and the colour combo I wanted to use I just needed to get it out. As we are moving shortly (get the keys on Monday, so exciting!) and stuff is packed in boxes I didn't think I could get it created but on Monday it got the better of me and I HAD to make it. So I unpacked some stuff and whipped up this card. It was such good fun to make as it didn't really have a rhyme or reason and came out looking better than imagined. I hope you like it also.
It seems so poetic as the first card I ever posted was using priceless and my 100th post also uses Priceless! Trust me wasn't planned that way. Anywho! I stamped the small swirl on purely pomegrante CS in the same coloured ink. I then took my white gel pen and went over all the dots. Simple but stunning effect! I then stamped the love heart image and punched it out. I stamped another heart, cut it out and layered it on top with dimensionals to give a 3D effect. Here's a (slightly blurry) close up below
Stamp Set: Priceless
Cardstock: Purely Pomegrante, Bashful Blue, Going Grey
Ink: Purely Pomegrante
Accessories: White Gel Pen, Dimensionals, Bashful Blue Grosgrain Ribbon, 1 1/2", 1 3/8" square punch, scallop edge punch, bashful blue brads
Thanks for looking and thanks again for visiting and all your lovely comments

A little Inspiration

Hi Again,
I have been dying to make a card for Makeesha's most recent challenge. It's an inspiration challenge based on this gorgeous bedding.
I just haven't had the time this week to be able to play in between illness, drs appts and last minute stuff before I get the keys to my new house. As time was ticking by this evening I thought what the hell I'll have a quick play and made this simple but really lovely card.
I wanted to use Not Quiet Navy but I couldn't find my cardstock which is odd cos it's filed in my filing cabinet so I used Blue Bayou for possibly the last time before it reitres (Sniff). I used Kaiser Craft Stamps on the background. I didn't use the handle as I wanted a rough, rustic sort of stamped image just to give it a little character and feel I achieved that. I have an engagement Party on Saturday night so thought this was a simple and elegant card I could give the lovely couple.
Stamp Set: Occasional Greetings, Kaiser Craft Stamps for background
Ink: Blue Bayou
Cardstock: Blue Bayou, Sahara Sand
Accessories: White Taffeta Ribbon, Mat Pack, Pretties Kit, Glue Dots
Thanks for looking!

Happy St Patrick's Day

To Be sure To be sure! Today's St Patricks day and I thought what better than to share a St Patrick's/Irish inspired card with you. At the start of the month the Inklings had there most recent challenge night and the first challenge was to go green and make something inspired by St Patrick's Day. Here is the card I made for the challenge.

I didn't have any clovers so I made one! I used Simply Said stamp set and stamped 4 love hearts in Wild Wasabi (That will be gone in a few short weeks, Sniff!) I cut out 3 to make the leaves and then cut part of the heart to make the stem of the clover. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Stamp Set: Simply Said, So Swirly Wheel

Cardstock: Whisper White, Wild Wasabi, Certainly Celery, Spring Picinic DSP (From Spring Mini)

Ink: Certainly Celery, Wild Wasabi

Accessories: Mat Pack, Dimensionals, Scallop Edge Punch, White Taffeta Ribbon

I hope you have a lovely St Patricks Day! I will be enjoying Green Coridal Spiders as I can't have anything alcoholic! LOL!

Happy Stampin'

Another Hospital Visit

*Sigh* I was so hoping to not end up back in hospital but unfortunatly got rushed there on Saturday afternoon after my pain got so excrusiating that I couldn't even stand. They admitted me for pain relief and all the fun tests. They have ruled out Kidney Stones completly. They have a few "theories" but no real idea what the cause is for my pain. They have put me on a pain management plan which I am positive will make things alot better and hopefully keep me out of hospital until baby arrives. I was discharged yesterday, It's so nice to be home!

I don't have alot of craft stuff to share. I was planning to work on some things last weekend but unfortunatly I wasn't able to do that. I did get to work on my baby shower invites a little whilst in hospital. They are nearly done so I will get them up to share with you soon.

On a positive note baby has been getting alot more active and stronger and Karl finally felt baby kick yesterday. So sweet! Baby is doing very well and all the tests on baby at hospital were very good which is positive to know.

Hopefully I'll be able to share some new things with you soon!

Retired Stamps and Accessories

Hi All,

Well it's that time of year again. We get a new catalogue on the first of April but it means that some stamp sets will retire from the 2008-2009 IB&C. I went through the lists this morning and was devestated about some (Paisley, Bud Basics, Bundle of Joy) but then delighted about others. Either way it means that we are making room for alot more exciting Stamp Sets and Accessories!

If you would like to view the retiring list they can be viewed in two forms. Click on the links below to go to the lists....

Alphabetical Retired List
Retired List Page Order

We are lucky this year that Stampin' Up are taking 25% of some retiring products so get in quickly as once stock is gone you will miss out. I will be selling some of my retiring stamp sets. Please contact me for a full list!

Cheers,
Dani

Polka Dot Wedding

Hi All,

The other weekend I went to a wedding for good friends of ours. It was a small and simple ceremony but was very them. The bride was co ordinating everything in red so I decided when making them a card I would ensure it was in red. I did a little casing (but changed it up a little to suit myself) from the fab Rachel Capps who got the original card from Dawn. Thanks ladies for the ideas! Around the same time I opened my big mouth and was talked into doing a demo of the Faux metal technique at our team stamping day. I decided to incorporate the faux metal technique into the card and demo the technique on the card at the stamping day. And here's what I came up with

Simple but very elegant and could also be given as a valentines card or a simple I love you card. The bride of the wedding absolutly loved the card! Here's a close up of the faux metal medallion I made. I attached it with some silver rings and long nose pliars from my jewellry making days.

Stamp Set: Polka Dot Punches (SAB), In the Spotlight

Cardstock: Whisper White, Real Red

Ink: Real Red, VersaMark

Accessories: White Taffeta Ribbon, Red Gingham Ribbon, Dimensionals, Silver Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Silver rings, Pliars

This week Mel Halon has a challenge on her blog to make a wedding card so I decided to enter this card as part of the challenge. as I did give it as a wedding card. Check out her blog for other simple but fun weekly challenges!

Thanks for looking!

Botanical Elements

Hi all,
This week has been hectic and I know I said I'd be back to upload more things so I am sorry but thank everyone for there patience. Yesterday I saw and worked on Kristina Werner's most recent Colour Challenge.
I substituted Kiwi Kiss for Old Olive as we don't have here in the land of Oz yet. I really liked the colour thoughs it because it showed that even if your using colours from the same family it can be a little bit of a challenge. I made a fairly simple card but i'm really happy with it and like how the colours came out together.
Stamp Set: Botanical Blooms (SAB), All year Cheer II (Retired), Itty Bitty Backgrounds (Soon to retire)
Cardstock: Whisper White, Old Olive, Really Rust, More Mustard
Ink: Old Olive, Really Rust, More Mustard
Accessories: Hodgepodge Hardware, Old Olive Brads, Scallop Edge Punch, Mat Pack
Thanks for looking!
Have a lovely day

Embrace Colour Challenges!

Hi guys,
I'm so sorry for lack of posting the last week and a half. Last week I returned to work at reduced hours and that along with going to a wedding in the hunter valley over the weekend (Which was gorgeous) has left me so physically exhausted. I do have quite a few things to share with you guys it's just a matter of having the energy to put it all on so bare with me.
First thing I do have you was from a week ago. The Inklings Demo group I'm apart of had there monthly challenge night. This one was hosted by the lovely and talented Carol. The first challenge of the night was a colour challenge. Here is the colour challenge....
Admittedly when I first saw the colours I was absolutly crapping myself. 2 of the colours in the challenge are my least favourite colours (Cameo Coral and Groovy Guava) but I felt that I should give the challenge a go to really push myself outside of my comfort zone. I am really happy I did as I am so happy with the result and may even use these colours again! (Yes this baby is really doing strange things to me!) Here's what I came up with...

Stamp Set: Embrace Life, Short & Sweet
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Pretty In Pink, Groovy Guava, Watercolour Paper
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Cameo Coral (Marker), Pretty In Pink (Marker), Timber Brown Stazon (Non SU)
Accessories: Aqua Painter, Mat Pack, Dimensionals
Thanks for looking!

Bundle of Congrats

I saw Kristina's lastest Colour Inspiration challenge this morning and though wow they are super nice and a bit of a challenge but doubted I'd be able to make a card before the deadline due to missing mojo and general pain with my condition. I had a MUCH NEEDED afternoon nap (Thank you Panadene Forte) and woke up with some ideas on what I wanted to do with the colours.
As mentioned in the previous post my partners Brother and his fiance are expecting there second child in August so I will be a (kinda) aunty again! YAY! I haven't been able to see them, due to my health, since finding out the news and have set plans to go visit next week. I've been planning to make them a card to say congrats on there news because they were reluctant to tell anyone at first because they didn't want to steal my thunder especially with everything going on. So I decided to use the inspiration colours to make the card. Here's the colours
Awwww Pwedddddy! And here's the card I made...
Stamp Set: Bundle of Joy, Congrats (SAB Set)
Cardstock: More Mustard, Old Olive, Watercolour Paper, So Saffron Prints DSP
Ink: More Mustard, Taken with Teal, Old Olive (Stampin' Write Markers)
Accessories: Aqua Painter, Hemp Twine, Mini Glue Dots, Random Button I found (Non SU!)
Technique: Watercolouring
I'm rather happy with this card. It's a little different to what I usually do but I like it. I am a more mustard convert I must say, It's a great colour to play with and I'll be using it more often than I do at the moment! The giraffe was a bit fiddly to watercolour so make sure you have lots of time (and patience) if you ever plan to watercolour him.
Happy Stampin'

Another Keesh Challenge

Hi all,
I saw Makeesha's challenge for this week and loved the sketch and had alot of ideas run through my head. Here's the sketch that we needed to base our creation on.

I decided to make a baby card. After recieving more news of friends being pregnant including my partners brother's fiance I thought it was more than fitting that I start gathering a collection of baby cards. I then counted the amount of people I know who are pregnant and got 14! Eeek! There is definatly something in the water I think. I made a girl card as I know definatly one of them is having a girl. Here's the card I made...
Stamp Set: Polka Dot BG, Wild About You, Short & Sweet
Cardstock: Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery
Ink: Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink
Accessories: 1/2" & 3/4" circle punches, scallop edge punch, Pretty in Pink Brads, Dimensionals
I must say I am not 100% sure about this card. It didn't turned out how I had invisioned and it reminded me of a circus for some reason. Please let me know what you think. For this reason I decided to make a second card. I am SO much happier with this card. Here it is...
Stamp Set: Bloomin' with Beauty (From Spring Mini)
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke, Whisper White, Watercolour Paper,
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke (Stamp Pad and Stampin' Write Marker), Mellow Moss, Rose Red (Ink pad and stampin' write marker)
Accessories: Aqua Painter, Choc Chip Ribbon, Mat Pack, Pewter Jumbo Eyelets, Sponges, Sponge Daubers, Scorer
Technique: Faux Tiles, Watercolouring
For this card in the background I used the Faux Tiles Technique. I scored whipser white cardstock on diagonals on both sides to get the checked pattern. I then sponged it in mellow moss and highlighted it in Always Artichoke.
Update on my scan. All went well. Baby is developing well and has normal features for it's age. As for the sex, we didn't find out. Baby had it's legs closed the whole scan which I think is a sign that we aren't supposed to know the sex which is fine by me! Thanks for all your well wishes and thoughts
Happy Stampin'
