Just Add Blue

Hi Guys,

This month is Depression and Anxiety Awareness Month. This is a great cause and something dear to my heart as I have gone through this myself and I know alot of people who have struggled in these areas. Please go to www.beyondblue.org.au for further info. Now to celebrate this the Just Add Ink girls have put together a great challenge this week. Just Add Blue and make it a just because card. Ie. Not a birthday, christmas, thank you, etc card a Card for no reason at all. I love that as I keep meaning to make a card like that and always forget. So this was a great opportunity to make something to send to someone for no reason. Here's what I came up with

I love the stamped vines. They turned out fab, I particularly love them because I've used 3 different images from three different sets and they blend in together so well. This card also has a few of my current things i'm in love with... Marina Mist, DSP stack, satin ribbon and rhinestone brads! I hope you like this card as much as me. Now to pop it into the mail for it's unsuspecting recipient!

Stamp Set: Just Believe, Pocket Silhouettes, Great Friend
Ink: Basic Black, Bashful Blue, Marina Mist
Cardstock: Basic Black, Marina Mist, Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Marina Mist DSP Paper Stack
Accessories: Rhinestones, Dimensionals, Basic Black Satin Ribbon, Pinking Heart border punch, SAMJ

Also I wanted to share some photo's of my gorgeous daughter Riley. She finally after months of frustration and encouragement started walking last Thursday. She is doing so well. Here's a photo of her this morning walking across the lounge room.

Now she has a little dressing up obsession atm. Here's a photo of her in her favourite hat (which I'm not in love with but hey) her glasses case around her neck (they are currently broken again) and a cow puppet in her hand. Shes so cheeky!

Hope you enjoyed everything I had to share with you!

Have a great day!

1st Birthday Invitations

Hi guys,

I have been very quiet the last month or so that's because not only have I been working ridiculous hours but my little girl had surgery 2 weeks ago. She has an eye condition known as congenital esotropia which means her eyes turn too far inwards and don't work together. Because hers were quiet severe surgery was recommended asap. So we forked out the money (Thanks mum and dad) for her to have it done. I thought I'd share a few photos of her cos who doesn't love photos of kids??

Here is a photo of her in her gown just before the surgery. You can see that her right (your left) eye is turned in and the other is veering in. This happened all the time. I have alot of photos where you can see it more prominently

Here's a photo taken last weekend after shes started recovering from the surgery. Her eyes are looking great and it has made such a difference to her. Before she was crawling but was a little uncoordinated now she just flies, she also has started getting into and up things (like our 15 stairs) so it has made a real difference. One of her eyes is drifting a little. We are hoping it doesn't drift anymore otherwise she may need another surgery in the future but for the moment we are so happy and proud of her.

Ok now onto the fun stuff... Stamping! Apart from the surgery I have also been working on my little girls birthday invitations. I can't believe she will be 1 in less than a month! Crazy how quickly time flies! I made 35 birthday invitations (And still didnt have enough for everyone). I decided to make it a butterfly theme so she has gorgeous butterfly invites and will have a matching cake and lolly boxes which I will share with you later on.

I decided to use Melon Mambo, One of our new In Colours and will be a permanent colour as of September teamed with Regal Rose and Orchid Opulence (Which will leave us in September *tear*) to make her invites and really love the colour combo. I am going to try and continue this colour theme throughout the birthday party!

Here is the invite up close. I used flight of the butterfly and butterfly prints (From the summer mini) to do the stamping. I also used polka dot bg stamp and It's your birthday for the look who's turning one! (Thanks Tracey Eaton) Also how beautiful is the new In Colour ribbon?? It's my new favourite product cos you can use either side!

Here is the inside. I finished it off with more butterflies!

Stamp Sets: Flight of the Butterfly, Butterfly Prints*, It's your birthday, Polka Dot BG
Ink: Melon Mambo, Regal Rose, Orchid Opulence
Cardstock: Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Regal Rose, Orchid Opulence
Accessories: 1 3/8" and 1 1/2" circle punches, Melon Mambo ribbon, dimensionals

Garden Daisy's

When I saw the new IB&C I was so excited that we were getting Upsy Daisy. I had seen it used on so many american demonstrators blogs looking so stunning that I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. In the following card I have used my markers to ink up the image and added dazzling diamonds on the flowers to really give it a pop!

Stamp Set: Upsy Daisy
Cardstock: Garden Green, Rose Red, Regal Rose Prints DSP
Ink: Garden Green, Rose Red, Regal Rose Markers
Accessories: Word Window Punch, Mat Pack, Dazzling Diamonds, Two Way Glue Pen, White Taffeta Ribbon

Also because I'm a really proud mum I wanted to share another photo for you of my gorgeous little girl. And for anyone who knows me well... YES She's wearing PINK! I'm not a big pink person so the fact she has pink on is a big deal. Needless to say I didn't buy it lol (Thanks Carol)

Thanks for looking,
Have a great day

Magnet Christmas Calendars

I have been getting busy making and creating more stuff for Christmas including cards, gifts, wrapping paper, bags, etc. I have been making up these super cute Magnetic Calendars using Kaiser Craft wood. They are so simple and quick to make and they are such nice and practical gifts to give to a friend, relative, work colleague, loved one or someone you haven't seen in a while. Here are 2 of the ones I have made recently using Dashing DSP. I have used the same piece of DSP for each just flipped it over to showcase both designs! I have stuck an old fridge magent on the back of them so the calendar can be in the most practical spot in the house! Your fridge!

Here's a close up of each...

The one below I have taken a photo of it whilst it is a magnet on the fridge I got given on the weekend. Such a good pick up I think the lady who gave it to me will be getting more than just one of these!

Stamp Set and Ink: NONE!
Card Stock: Real Red, Old Olive, Dashing DSP
Accessories: Real Red and Old Olive Wide grosgrain, Sanding block, Mini Calendars, Kaiser Craft Wood

Now on a lighter note... While I was taking photo's out the back under the patio where my new fridge is residing temporarily Miss Purdy was watching me. She rarely makes alot of noise but she kept whinging as if to say "don't take photo's look at me I'm cute!" So because of that I got this rather cute photo of her snuggled up looking oh so comfortable! Oh the life of a dog!

Thanks for looking!

Happy 1st Birthday Asha

On the 26th of September my boyfriends Niece, Asha, turned One! I cannot believe she is already a year old. She is the most beautiful and sweet little girl and I'm not just be a biased "sort of auntie." Check out this gorgeous photo taken of her at her party!

As it was her birthday I also had to make her a beautiful birthday card. I used a set that is retired (Sorry guys) called "Favourite Teddy Bear" but it was the most appropriate set for the card. I love this set so much and was bummed when it retired! He (the bear) is sooo cute and I've nicknamed him Boris!

I stamped Boris in Timber Brown Stazon onto watercolouring paper and then watercoloured him in Close to cocoa and Chocolate Chip Inks to get all the shading! I added a party hat to him and watercoloured it in lavendar lace. The rest of the card was done in Pretty in Pink and Lavendar lace as these were the colours of the balloons they had chosen for the party.

On the inside of the card I took a Very Vanilla Love Note envelope. Jazzed it up with punches and bling and stuck it to the inside of the card. I put some money in the envelope to be added to her bank account which was opened for her a few days after she was born. Unfortunatly in the heat my Basic Black journaler went psycho and wouldn't work so I had to write with the thick side of the marker. It isn't as neat and perfect as I would usually write for that reason!

How sweet does it look??
During the party Mum and Dad had a cake for her. They decided after blowing the candles out they would let her loose on the cake. She ended up with icing all over herself including in her hair. I have heaps of photos of her looking like a very cute grub and it was hard to chose one. The photo I have chosen was her whilst eating cake and dancing along to the song her dad made up for her. Isn't she sooo cute?
I can't wait to get these printed and scrapbook them!!
Thanks for looking! Have a great day

All About ME!!!

A couple of months ago the wonderfully talented and newly published Alana Galagher who is a member of the Inklings team proposed a 6x6 page swap. I was very excited as I am desperate to fill up my album. This swap however came with a slight twist though. The page had to be about you the creator of the page. I needed to be in the photo in some way. Thinking it was fun I signed u for the challenge. I don't know about you but I hate photo's of myself and prefer to be behind the camera.
Just before my birthday my boyfriend through me a surprise party (which I picked up on a few days before hand) so I thought what a perfect opportunity to get some photo's taken with my mates and use one of those. Needless to say like any traditional birthday bash there was some alcohol involved and I was as crissed as a picket after 2 glasses of wine and... This is where the fun pictures began. I got home and analysed the photo's taken and although there were some great ones of me and my mates I couldn't go past these two that are rather silly but extremly captulating of my personality.
Picture Number 1 (I think I was singing and dancing in my seat either that or I was trying to massage my frontal lobes a little)
Picture Number Two (Can everyone say "huh???" I promise I was not posing in this photo and it was just sort of luck of the snap... Or unlucky which ever way you look at it)
I ended up deciding on the least unflattering of the two (Although I just put the other one on the web for the world to see) for my page. I must say I am so happy with how the page turned out and I think it is me all over. I am a real kid at heart, I don't mind making a fool of myself and I laugh at my own jokes.
The page was also so fun to make as I wasn't trying to capture the feeling of the photo of someone else it was something that was all me. So without further ado I show you the finished page...
Stamp Sets: Looks Like Spring, Big deal Alphabet
Cardstock: Summer picnic DSP, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive
Inks: Bashful Blue, Real Red, Old Olive
Accessories: Mat Pack, Real Red Eyelets, Whisper White Ribbon, Old Olive Marker, Sponge Danber, Luggage Tag (Non SU!), Fiscars Stencil for the arrow shape (Non SU!)
Technique: Kissing
Behind the picture there is a tag which is non SU! It slides in and out and it has some info about me.
Thanks for looking! I hope you love the page as much as I do!
Happy Stamping!
Dani :)
