Botty Bot!

Hi guys,

Wow 2 posts in 2 days. Hope I can keep up this momentenum. My brother asked me to make his girlfriend a card for her birthday which was yesterday, Happy Birthday Silver (Her names Sylvia but my daughter pronounces it Silver hehe), And she's quiet nerdy and geeky so I had to make her a robot card, Been loving robot cards lately. So I pulled out Best Bots Forever which unfortunatly isn't available here in Australia, sorry. But it's still super cute. And I made two cute bots holding hands. Aren't they so sweet??

Stamp Set: Best Bots Forever, Lots of Bots
Ink: Black Stazon, Perfect Plum, Rose Red, Pear Pizzazz, Marina Mist, Basic Grey
Cardtock: Watercolouring Paper, Perfect Plum, Rose Red, Pear Pizzazz, Marina Mist Prints DSP
Accessories: Marina Mist Taffeta, Sponge Daubers, SAMJ, Word Window Punch, Aqua Painter

I asked my youngest what was on the card. She's been a bit slower with her talking but is really starting to take off lately and she told me it was a "botty bot" which was just so sweet so I thought that was an appropriate title for this post esp when I always struggle with a title.

TFL! Have a great Saturday

A "nanna" Card

Hi guys,

Yesterday was my Nanna's Birthday and I wanted to make her a card that was very her, Very "Nanna-ish." So I decided a rose would be a great place to start and I've been wanting to make my own rose for ages so I thought this was a great opportunity. They are really great fun and so simple to do. They add a great dimension and texture to a card and a very wow focus point that it doesn't need alot of other things to accentuate it. So after I made the flower I Faux Sueded an oval punch and then cut it to shape for some leaves. This also gave me that soft Nanna feel. Then I wanted to add some vintage and I just love double stamping to help give that vintage feel. Then to finish off the feature point I added some croquet ribbon, It wouldn't be say Nanna without something that resembled a doily.

Stamp Set: French Script, Teeny Tiny Sentiments, Friends 24-7
Ink: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Pink Pirouette
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Pink Pirouette, Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz, Cherry Cobbler
Accessories: Big Shot, Textures Impressions Embossing, Dimensionals, Oval Punch, Croquet Trim Ribbon, Spounge Daubers, SAMJ, Lace Trim Border Punch, Tombow 2 way glue

This card had been started for a few weeks so it was nice to finally finish it. The end result was just so stunning and the photo doesn't do it justice. It was quiet hard to photograph due to the dimensions on the card.

Thanks for looking, I'll be back very soon with another card I made yesterday

Big News

Warning personal post!!!

Hi guys,

WOW, it's been a little quiet at my wee little blog lately hasn't it. I keep mentioning I have alot going on recently and have been pretty run off my feet. Well... now that everything is FINALLY official I would like to share my big news with you all.

One of my family members had a little girl 6 mths before I gave birth to my daughter Riley. Due to circumstances which I cannot go into the little girl (Lilly) was unable to be cared for by her parents and went into foster care. I couldn't fathom the thought of this little girl getting stuck in the foster system all her life and not getting to know her family so in August last year we made the decision to get assessed as foster carers for this little girl. And we were successful. So lots of months later after we went through all the paper work and formalities and all the rest we finally have a foster child. YAY! She has been living with us permanently since last Sunday (a week so far) and all is going pretty well. Riley loves having a big sister and someone she can play with all the time.

On top of this huge news I also have a new job which I am starting in 2 weeks time, Again this is another thing that has dragged on and on (Was supposed to start in November) but I cannot wait for the new possibilities it will bring. It will be a bit of a change from my current industry but I feel this is the best time for me to turn over a new leaf and learn something new.

It feels nice to finally share a little bit about what has been happening around here. I have been very busy but feel so blessed to be able to make a difference for someone who really needs it.

Now it wouldn't be a blog post without a card. I made a card for Lilly for her 2nd birthday back in December and keep forgetting to put it on here so this seems the most fitting post for it. I still 3 mths later really love the card...

Stamp Set: Butterfly Prints, On your Birthday
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Perfect Plum
Cardstock: Perfect Plum, Pretty in Pink, Rose Red, Whisper White

Inklings CyberStamp

Hi guys,

As I've mentioned before the team I'm a part of is the Inklings and last week we had a cyberstamp and I have so far made one card for it. Feels like forever since I've participated. I have other things in my head for the other challenges set on the night I just haven't had the opportunity to sit down and make them for reasons I will finally be able to explain in my next post.

Anyway this is for challenge one which was to chose a number between 1 and 23 flick open the summer mini to that page number and make something based on the layout/s on that page. Initially I chose 3 but there isn't a card on that page so I flicked to number 4 and based my card on the layout of the turtle card. And I must say I am STOKED with how it turned up and how quick and simple it was to make. Please let me know what you think. Oh and it was for an engagement! And I love it too cos it's not your traditional silver and white lovey dovey. Anywho I'm rambeling now...

Stamp Set: Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Cardstock: Baja Breeze, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler
Ink: Early Espresso
Accessories: Decorative Label Punch, Dimensionals, Early Espresso Taffeta, Baja Breeze Prints DSP

I don't own a love heart punch yet, I know SHOCK HORROR! (Don't worry it's in my next order) so I cut the heart by hand and faux sueded it to give some texture, Really stoked at how good it turned out.

Have a good one,
Dani

Inkspired by Sweet Sunday

Hi Hi!

Well I've got a ripper of a card to share tonight. I'm actually really happy with it. It evolved in my head during the week and then evovled more as I created it and I'm really happy with it. It's very different to my usual style, quiet vintage which I don't think I do very well so I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I used this weeks Inkspirations Colours... Aren't they lush? I love these colours together!

I also used this weeks Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge. I have never participated in there challenges before so I really hope I did it justice. Here's the layout...

I tweaked it alittle but here's the end result...

I must say it was really hard to photograph particularly the acetate I used along the middle with the musical notes on it. The photograph really doesn't do it justice also as there is so much texture and elements to it.

There are a few things I love about this card, Firstly the background. On the background there is musical notes wheel all over then the butterfly image from "bliss" SAB set. I then crumpled it into a ball a few times and then played with the edges, ripping, tearing, crumpling to get a really vintage feel. I also love the acetate through the middle. I stamped the wheel in stazon onto acetate. I love how the different colours all look coming through. It was a bit hard to adhere it to the card without to many glue marks. I used mini glue dots to assist with this.

Stamp Set: Bliss, Teeny Tiny Sentiments, Musical Notes Wheel
Cardstock: Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Baja Breeze
Ink: Stazon Jet Black, Cherry Cobbler, Baja Breeze
Accessories: Standard Wheel, Mini Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Black Stain Ribbon, Acetate, Black Button Non SU, Labels Big Shot die, Big Shot

Thanks for looking,

Have a great day

Lots of Valentines

Hi guys,

Just a quick one tonight. I really should have been in bed ages ago as I have a 6am start tomorrow but I was busy making a Valentine's Day card for Karl whilst he was having a night out. I used the Inkspirations Sketch

I really love this sketch. I had so many ideas floating around in my head but just not enough time to execute them all. Here's what I did do with it though...

My photography hasn't been the best lately due to moving everything around in my craft area so please bare with me. I don't have time to post the recipe but if you have any questions please email me.

Have a good one and TFL!

Embracing Simplicity

Hey All,

In my last post I advised that I found simpler cards harder to make especially cards with less layers. Well I must have been hit with the Less is more bug cos I managed 2 simple cards that took under 30 mins each to make. AWESOME! They are both similar but hey I am still happy with them especially cos they are BRIGHT and cheerful.

This first one I made for my dad whose birthday it was on Australia Day. He also had surgery yesterday so nice and cheery is definatly on the cards

Stamp Set: Circle Circus, On your birthday
Cardstock: Pear Pizzazz, Bashful Blue, Whisper White
Ink: Pear Pizzazz, Bashful Blue, Marina Mist
Accessories: Marina Mist Button, Marina Mist Taffeta Ribbon, Corner rounder

This second one I made to say thanks to our friends for letting us stay at their caravan last weekend. We had the most awesome time. I'm really tempted to buy my own down there now.

Stamp Set: Circle Circus, Trendy Trees
Cardstock: Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Rose Red, Whisper White
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Rose Red

Just Add Ink #52

Hi guys and gals,

I've just gotten back from an awesome break away down the south coast. Was much fun and very needed for me to have a bit of a destress. Then to arrive home to this horrible weather, I think I'm going to pack up and move down there. Anyway I got to sneak in a card for Just Add Ink's weekly challenge. This week its a sketch, here it is...

I really love there sketches as they are usually on the more simpler side of life which for me is a challenge to not add 20 billion layers. So I tried not to complicate it this week and embrase the simplicity. I must say I don't know if I LOVE this card yet but please tell me what you think as it's a little bit different for me. Also would love to hear what age group you feel it's appropriate for.

Stamp Set: Grunge Rock, Sanded
Cardstock: Night of Navy, Real Red, Bashful Blue, Whisper White
Ink: Real Red, Night of Navy, Bashful Blue
Accessories: Paper Snips, Top Note dye, Real Red Taffeta, Night of Navy thin taffeta, Rhinestones, Paper Snips

I also find it quiet fitting that I just randomly chose these colours and happened to put it on my blog on Australia Day, How fitting. Trust me, none of it was planned. Happy Australia Day everyone, I hope you all had a great day munching on some snags and sipping a few beers! (I however worked, bah humbug!)

Have a great one!

One of foxes friends

Hi guys,

Told you I'd be back. So excited that I have had the chance to blog again. I've been feeling a little lost without it actually. I have the other baby shower card to share with you today. This card needed to feature a giraffe and needed to be non gender specific. So what was better than the cute little giraffe from fox and friends? I actually drew some of my inspiration for this card from the catalogue. Best place to get some mojo from when it's lacking

Stamp Set: Fox and Friends, Baby Bundle
Ink: Baja Breeze, So Saffron
Cardstock: Whisper White, So Saffron, Baja Breeze prints DSP from Subtles DSP paper stack
Accessories: Whisper White taffeta, Whsiper White Button, Linen Thread, 1 3/4" circle punch, Dimensionals

I'm not if you can tell but the middle section is adhered to the base with dimensionals. Give the card some more dimension. Now I was a little unsure if this was "gender nuetral" enough or does the baja make it more "boyish". Please let me know your thoughts.

Also I thought I'd share a photo of my gorgeous daughter Riley just because I can. I can't believe how quickly she is growing up. Here she is running around blowing kisses to however will catch them. Do you love her skirt?? I got it specially made as a one off for her by Ilja at Em&Femme Designs for Christmas. I also got the cutest shirt to match with fairy wings on it but she got it all dirty by the time I took this haha.

Have a great one,
Dani

Don't you hate it when....

You have no idea what to title your blog post?? Well that's me today. Possibly because I haven't updated in like 6 weeks and I'm a little out of touch! I apologise for my quietness but things have been pretty crazy in my side of the world. I have been creating and have so much Christmas stuff but just haven't had time to upload it, that and my computer has had issues. I have been working pretty crazy hours in amoungst that we have been very busy with our new adventure which I am hoping to have final information about next week. I also have a new job starting next month which I am very excited about and have just been spending lots of time with my gorgeous little girl.

Anyway onto some of the stuff I've been creating. A friend of mine asked me to make her some baby shower cards for friends who were having baby showers this month. Both needed to be non gender specific and one had to include giraffes. So this is the first one I made...

Stamp Set: Baby Bundle, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Ink: Marina Mist, Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Pretty In Pink, Chocolate Chip, Basic Grey, Stazon Black
Cardstock: Watercolour Paper, Marina Mist, So Saffron, Pretty In Pink, Certainly Celery
Accessories: Certainly Celery Button, Aqua Painter, Certainly Celery Brads, Large Star Punch, Small Star Punch*, Linen Thread

I must say the photo doesn't do it justice but I don't feel I really do the best photos of my cards.

Thanks for looking. I will be back soon with some more awesome stuff to share.

Happy Stampin'

Happy Anniversary Hunny!

Hi guys,

On Friday the 19th last week me and Karl celebrated our 5 yr anniversary. I can't believe it has been 5 years since that first date. It's amazing how much has happened and it feels like we've known each other all our lives yet it doesn't seem like time has really gone that quickly.

Anyway enough mushy stuff onto the card I made! This is the card I made for our anniversary. I made it back in August on our weekend away and figured I'd give it to Karl whenever it felt like the right time. And due to how busy things have been I never got around to giving it to him so I thought it was still nice enough for an anniversary.

Stamp Set: En Francias, Short and Sweet, Artistic Etchings
Ink: Basic Black, Ridinghood Red, Versamark
Cardstock: Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Ridinghood Red
Accessories: Ridinghood red taffeta, Scallop circle punch, hemp twine, Sponge Dauber, Sticky Strip, Ridinghood red button, buttons #5 die

To make the flower I punched out 4 or 5 scallop circles in very vanilla cardstock, scrunched them up then unfolded them. To get the inked effected I simply dropped them randomly in my ink pad until they were to my liking. Went around them with a dauber, played with them til they sat the way i wanted, added some accessories and done. Vintage looking flowers!!!

Looking at this card I can see that my style is always changing. It's such a great thing. There are alot of flaws (en francias going side ways, etc) in this card but I think it all adds to the effect.

Hope you like it too,

Dani
